Sinisterhood

Sinisterhood is the hit comedy podcast hosted by the brilliant and hilarious Christie Wallace and Heather McKinney. Every Wednesday tune in and hear them “chat all things sinister in this funny and well-researched podcast.” (Marie Claire). Each weekly episode covers cults, crimes, and creeps with plenty of research, some legal insight, and lots of laughs.

Sinisterhood has been downloaded over 40 million times. The show regularly appears on the Top 100 Comedy Charts across Apple, Stitcher, and Spotify and has been featured in Marie Claire, Vulture, Women’s Health, and AV Club.

Heather and her husband, Paris Brown produce short films and comedy sketches with their production company, Nice Egg Entertainment. Below are some places where their work has screened.

Heather has appeared in national commercials for JCPenney and Boston’s Pizza, as well as online sketch comedy. She appeared in the short films, Final Girl Defense, in which she plays a lawyer, and Lifted, in which she plays a woman driven homicidal by quarantine. She drew on personal experience for both roles.

Each week for a year, Heather published a newsletter called Sunday Morning Hot Tea, where she wrote a personal essay in the vein of David Sedaris or Samantha Irby and periodically answered reader-submitted pop culture legal questions.

Touring with Sinisterhood and producing films means less time for writing, but while the newsletter is on hiatus, you can still sign up to get new pieces whenever they’re available. You can read the full archive here.

In 2010, Heather graduated with a bachelors in non-fiction creative writing from the University of Illinois at Chicago. In April 2020, she published her first essay collection, I Have No Business Being Here, available on Apple Books and WattPad.
