Before pursuing a full-time career in entertainment, Heather was a practicing attorney. She previously served as an Equal Justice Works Fellow at Legal Aid of NorthWest Texas where she fought on behalf of abused, neglected, and exploited adults over 60.
She came to Legal Aid from the corporate world where she was an associate at Weil, Gotshal and Manges, an AmLaw top 20 firm, in their private equity and M&A group. Heather was also recognized in both the 2021 and 2022 editions of Best Lawyers Ones to Watch.
At Weil, Heather was fortunate to perform pro bono hours for The Innocence Project, both for their special litigation group and in application evaluations. She aided in representing a Nigerian national in an asylum/withholding of removal application, coordinated research efforts for vulnerable individuals during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, created an attorney resource guide on the CARES Act, and provided pro bono services to local small business owners navigating the height of lockdown. More recently, Heather provided research to the Deason Criminal Justice Reform Center in its efforts to address issues like financial eligibility standards for appointed counsel and early stage criminal procedure.
Heather currently serves as a board member for FearLess Dallas, an organization that provides women and gender minorities ages 18+ valuable mentorship opportunities. During the school year, she serves as a weekly volunteer librarian in the Dallas County juvenile justice system.
